Worship: The Heart and Soul of UUCC

Attendees cherish our worship services for many reasons. Boil them down to this: An hour of meaningful worship soothes the spirit, calms the soul, and prepares you for the week ahead. Living this life can sometimes be hard: worship shouldn’t be. Some things to know so you’ll be comfortable:

  • During the church year, we hold services at 9:15 AM and 11:00 AM every Sunday. In the summer months, we hold a single service every Sunday at 10:00 AM. Services last about an hour.
  • Some dress casually, others like wearing their Sunday finest. You wear what you like to church! You’ll see it all here.
  • We love children. In the first part of our services, they are invited to come to the front of the sanctuary for some time with the worship leader (Message for All Ages). We then “sing out” the children as they go downstairs for their religious education classes, as the service continues for adults.
  • We also provide a nursery downstairs to welcome infants and toddlers with a speaker that broadcasts the service if you would prefer to stay with your little one.
  • We start each service with our affirmation: Love is the message of this church and service is its law. This is our great covenant together: to dwell together in peace, to seek the truth in love and to help one another.
  • We share our lives with each other through our Candles of Community in which people are invited to share a concern or a joy with the congregation. We are a family that supports each other through thick and thin. Sharing and knowing each other contributes to that and people share as they are comfortable. It’s up to you!
  • We take seriously the principles and sources of our faith. They guide the work we do together in worship.
  • We tend to think a lot and love intellectual stimulation. That’s why we love hearing a sermon each week that informs and challenges us to live our best lives. Read about some of our past sermon topics.
  • Music is especially important to our worship experience. This congregation sings with conviction!
  • Our minister is in the pulpit an average of three times a month. One Sunday a month, and during the summer, our services are led by members of the congregation or by visiting worship leaders.
  • At the close of each service, we state a benediction.
  • We love to eat and talk! Stay after church for our coffee hour and get to know us.

We hope to see you soon!
